On October 24, 1833 Malissa married Wesley Hunt in Warren County, Missouri.
They were the parents of James Thompson Hunt and Larkin Wesley Hunt, who were three years old, and three months old, respectively, when Malissa died. Wesley then traveled toward Illinois to find family to raise the boys and wasn't heard from again. He is thought to have drowned crossing the Mississippi river.
His online cenotaph has been created here in the traditional family cemetery, next to his wife, as his body was never recovered.
