I have fought the good fight,
I have finished the race,
I have kept the faith.
~ II Timothy 4:7 (NKJV)

Anthony “Tony” Lloyd was born July 31, 1961 in Bronx, New York, a son of Gladys and Jesse Lloyd. Anthony left this world in the physical presence on June 2, 2014 in Bronx, NY.

Anthony was educated in the New York City public school system. A hard worker all of his life, he worked at a New York City bank, Bronx Community College, a refrigerator company, and lastly Iola Jordon Day Care Center.

In his early years, Anthony attended Trinity A.M.E. Church under the pastorship of the late Reverend Leon Shuler. He served as an Usher and a member of the Shuler Youth Choir. He joined the Friendly Baptist Church in 2011 under the leadership of Reverend Albert Sutton Sr. He attended church until his health started to decline.

Anthony was a proud New Yorker! He was always watching a Jets or Knicks’ game. His other favorite place was the Lloyd Poker Table, “buying a card”.

Anthony possessed a gentle spirit and calm demeanor that drew people to him. He stood tall and proud, but never boastful. Anthony was there for his family whenever help was needed. A fighter through it all, Anthony showcased remarkable strength as he smiled through the pain and winked, or gave a fist bump to show that he was laughing!

He leaves to cherish loving memories: his parents, Gladys and Jesse Lloyd; brothers, Tommie Lloyd (Rhonda) and Derek Lloyd (Tiny); sister, Robin Baxter; grandmother, Rebecca Vanish; aunts, Kathleen Hadley, Lucille Washington (Herman), Jannette Haynes, Lilly Lloyd, Roberta Smalls (George), and Barbara Robinson; and uncle, Benjamin Lloyd (Amanda). He also leaves behind a host of nieces whom he treated as his own, nephews, two great-nieces, and a great-nephew; cousins, extended family and friends.

Anthony was preceded in death by his grandparents: James Lloyd, Lawton Haynes and Emma Haynes.

The pain is gone. I’m no longer suffering.
I know you cared and loved deeply,
so please understand that I am finally at peace.
