SSgt Howard enlisted in the Air Force in 1958. Served four years, returned to Rochester, N. Y. and went to work for General Dynamics Corp. He re-enlisted nine months later and was sent to Vietnam in June 1966. He came home on leave in 1967 and was then sent back to Vietnam.
