Robert Brohl "Bob" Busby, a manufacturing executive and loving, dedicated husband and father, died peacefully at home on July 21 in Pawling, NY, surrounded by family. He was 82 and had a neurological disease that was not conclusively diagnosed.

Bob was born to Alfred and Jean McCall Busby, the second of three sons, in Brooklyn, New York on May 28, 1933. He grew up in Garden City, NY, and Brewster, NY. He graduated in 1951 from Brewster High School, where he lettered in basketball, baseball and golf. He continued his education at Colgate University, graduating in 1957 after serving two years with the U.S. Army in South Korea as the manager of a PX store, an experience he credited for the development of many of his business skills.

On September 22,1957, he married the love of his life, Valerie Smith Busby, also from Pawling. He knew that she was "the one" the first time he saw her. They had five children: Scott (wife: Anne Glusker) of Takoma Park, MD, Susan (husband: Dave Daniels) of Pawling, Stephanie of Pawling, Andrea (husband: John Rickert) of Pawling, and Craig (wife: Lynne) of Sherman, CT. He adored his 11 grandchildren (Martin Glusker; Matt, Meghan, Erin, Kara and Emma Daniels; Julia Busby; Henry and Will Rickert; Jake and Anderson Busby), and great grandson (Jude Daniels).

He is also survived by his two brothers and their wives Alfred and Barbara Busby of Atlanta, GA and Bruce and Sandy Busby of Madison, CT; his brother-in-law and wife Stephen and Cathy Smith, of Seabright, NJ; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Smith of Pawling; and his many nieces and nephews.

Bob served his entire career with the Pawling Rubber Corporation, first as a salesman and eventually as executive vice president. He also served as chairman of the Presray Corporation. He prided himself on his innovative designs and his shrewd business deals. He was delighted when his son Craig and son-in-law John joined the business and loved receiving company updates long after he retired.

Bob was a devoted father and grandfather who loved and supported his many children and grandchildren in multiple ways. They will always remember his sage advice, as well as the toboggan rides, softball games, relay races, and fourth of July fireworks he organized. Family highlights include a 1970s cross-country summer trip in a motor home, and a family trip to Bermuda to celebrate his 70th birthday. An avid golfer who played many of the top courses in the world, Bob was a longtime member of Quaker Hill Country Club, where he served as greens chairman for more than 30 years, and also belonged to Pine Valley Golf Club, Ekwanok Country Club, Morefar Golf Course and the Meadows Club in Sarasota, FL. He also loved to tend to his yard meticulously throughout the years and help with the outdoor projects of his family and community.

Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 at Lankler Hall, Christ Church, Pawling, NY, and a memorial service will be held at Christ Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 27. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's name may be made to the Akin Hall Association Scholarship Fund, PO Box 345, Pawling, NY 12564, which provides college aid to deserving local students.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, 845-855-3550.
