SURFSIDE BEACH, SC ~ Sylvia Speas Bryant, age 94, wife of the late John Henry Bryant, Sr, died Monday, May 7, 2012 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. The oldest of 4 children, Sylvia was born in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Monroe and Esther Miller Speas. She worked 30 years for the Federal Government in the County helping farmers with their crop allotments. She would always say "She knew all the farmers in the County all the time!" While in Surfside Beach, SC she attended Surfside Methodist Church. She was also a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC. Sylvia was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert M.Speas, Sr. of Morganton, NC; sisters, Mary Orr of Surfside Beach, SC and Rosalee Marable of Mechanicsville, VA. She is survived by her only child, John Henry Bryant, Jr. and his wife Patricia Sullivan Bryant of Winston-Salem, NC; three grandchildren, Jennifer Bryant Lineberry and her husband Ricky Dale of Winston-Salem, Christopher Bryant of Butner, NC and Kevin Bryant of Winston-Salem, NC; two great-grandchildren, Sara Lineberry and Eve Lineberry; a step-great-grandchild, Lina Lineberry of Yadkinville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at New Philadelphia Moravian Church in Winston-Salem, NC.
