On February 2, 2016 Rev. Roger L. McCoy started walking on streets on gold. Here on earth, Roger lived his 63 years dedicated to his Lord and personal Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on April 18, 1951 in Parkersburg, Roger graduated from Parkersburg South High School in 1970. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois Regina (Blair) on May 8, 1970. Roger was a devoted husband to Lois. He celebrated every milestone, birthday, anniversary, holiday and special occasions with love notes to her. They enjoyed traveling and took many trips throughout the United States.

He was a loving and protective father to his three daughters, Lisa (Chris) Shinn of Poca, W.Va.; Rachel McCoy of New Smyrna, Fla. and Regina (Luke) Sayers of Athens, Ohio. He doted on his girls and was their biggest cheerleader.
He adored his grandchildren, Eli and Jillian Shinn, Jasmine and Daizi Way and Jacob and Emma Sayers. Spending time with them was a great joy.

He also loved his brother, Randy (Loretta) McCoy of Davisville, W.Va. and his sister, Ruth (Harold) McNemar of Parkersburg.

Roger was retired from the United States Postal Service, where he carried mail out of the Parkersburg main office. He earned the "Million Mile" award during his time of service there.

Roger was inducted into the Parkersburg South Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012 for his work in high school as team manager of the wrestling, football and basketball teams.

He also was a "collector" finding old Coke-Cola items gave him great delight. He especially loved to bargain and find the best price for whatever piece of treasure he was buying.

His life work was spent serving Jesus as an Ordained Minister of The Wesleyan Church. He prepared for the ministry and graduated from God's Bible School & College in 1976. He pastored churches in St. Albans, Williamson, Parkersburg and Vienna, W.Va. and also pastored in Stewart, Ohio. He was a beloved pastor and friend to many people in all of these churches and in the West Virginia District.

Roger was a humble man. His family is comforted to think of him laying his crowns down at Jesus feet in worship to the King of Kings. He is reunited in heaven with his beloved granddaughter, Claudia Way and parents, Laco and Edna McCoy.

The family welcomes you to stop by and celebrate his life with us on Friday, February 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre. Roger loved people and we draw strength from the stories you will share with us.

His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2016, Rev. Les Crossfield, Rev. Phil Ridenour and Rev. Chris Shinn will be leading the service. Son-in-law, Luke Sayers will be sharing the eulogy.
