Ms. Patsy Glenda Powell, age 76, of Rome, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016, at a local hospital.

Ms. Powell was born in Rome, Georgia on November 15, 1939, daughter of the late James Clinton Powell and the late Vesta Williams Powell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edward Swift, by a daughter, Nicole Buchanan, by a brother, James Clyde Powell, and by a nephew, Mike Outlaw. Ms. Powell worked for a number of years as a hairdresser and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Carmen Buchanan, Rome; a sister, Mary Jo Outlaw, Silver Creek; nieces, Elizabeth Powell, Rome, Autumn Yatabe, Birmingham, AL, Claudette Powell, New York, and India Ramey, Nashville, TN; nephews, Greg Outlaw, Silver Creek, and Mark Outlaw, Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 3pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. J. R. McWhorter officiating. Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 2pm until the service time. At other hours, they will be at their respective residences.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday at 2:30pm and include: Michael Brewer, Ron Stark, Jordan Thacker, Andrew Outlaw, and Greg Outlaw.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
