Ken Davis, 71, of Wilmington, NC died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1944 in Wilmington, NC the son of the late Arthur Eugene and Nellie Davis. Mr. Davis worked in the transport industry for 27 years before retiring in 2000. He worked with the children's ministries in several local churches in Wilmington and for the last five years he has been working with the children's programs at the Wilmington Family YMCA. Mr. Davis will be long remembered for his love and devotion for children. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Diane Davis; one son, David Davis of South Carolina; one daughter, Crystal Swift and husband John of Wilmington, NC; four grandchildren, Christopher Hewett, Steven Hewett, Jonathan Davis, and Brittani Davis; one special great grandson, Christian; one uncle, J. R. Davis and wife Cheryl of Wilmington, NC; and one cousin, Billy Davis and wife Cindy of Greensboro, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Grace Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 180 NC Highway 210, Hampstead, NC 28443. Interment will follow in Sea Lawn Memorial Park, Hampstead, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the 8th floor of NHRMC for their excellent service, especially Latisha who sang a beautiful spiritual song to him as he entered surgery.
