Sylvia Barham Sams of Bluff City, passed away Monday February 1, 2016, peacefully at the Johnson City Medical Center. She was born in Riceville, Tennessee to the late Edward and Julia Barham and was also preceded in death by her beloved husband Ross Sams and daughter Sandra Sams.

Sylvia was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Bluff City for many years and was also a member of the Piney Flats Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Lenville Sams and wife Charlotte of Bluff City; one grandson, Chad Sams and wife Melissa; one granddaughter, Patricia Bell and husband Allen; one great-grandson, Carter Sams; and one great- granddaughter; Maylan Sams all of Knoxville. Sylvia was also survived by several nieces, nephews and a special caregiver, Corina Murphy.

A service to honor Sylvia’s life will be held Thursday February 4, 2016 at 7:00 pm at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel with Mr. Ron Whitacre and Mr. Tim Carlson, ministers officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the funeral service from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday and at the home of the son and daughter-in-law, Lenville and Charlotte Sams at other times.

The graveside and committal service will be held Friday February 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Heritage Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol, Tennessee. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home – Bluff City Chapel at 10:15 am on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Allen Bell, Ed Smith, John Barham, Marvin Melvin, Todd Carrier, Brent Carrier and Matthew Carrier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edmond Carrier, Buddy Carrier, Melvin King Carrier, Dickie King and Jerry Gregg.
