Mary B. Jimenez, 79, of Tucumcari, N.M., died in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, January 31, 2016.
Mary was born on October 13, 1936, in Ranchitos, N.M. to the late Rosenaldo and Lugardita Bustos. She moved to Tucumcari in 1959, when she married the late Casey C. Jimenez. She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, also in Tucumcari. Mary worked in Santa Fe for the N.M. Land Office from 1955-1959. After a short stint of being a stay at home mom, Mary went to work for the N.M. Motor Vehicle Department in Tucumcari from 1963-1998....needless to say, Mary has issued a driver's license to nearly every person in Tucumcari and the surrounding areas, at least one time or another.
Mary was a true believer in helping her community by volunteering and donating her time to local organizations.... anything to help others. Some of the organizations included are: Christian Mothers, BPOE #1172, VFW Ladies Auxiliary#2528, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #19, Business and Professional Women, and LULAC. The two organizations that she held close to her heart were Beta Sigma Phi Sorority from 1972 to present day, and Helping Hands Hospice where she had been president for the last 8 years and had been a volunteer since 2002.
Mary is survived by her 4 children of Tucumcari, Stephanie Cannon (Jerry), Barbara Jimenez, Casey Jimenez II, and Karl Jimenez (Diana); 11 grandchildren, Josh, Brianna, Megan, Victoria, Karl, Alan, Jasmine, Adam, Steven, Christopher, and Taylor; 2 brothers, Ross (Helen) and Ruben; 8 sisters, Lucy (Andres), Orlinda (Emmet), Bernie (Joe), Patsy (Del), Rose, Ruth, Joanne (Carl), and Josephine (Gary); sister-in-law Carolyn Jimenez Autry; and many, many nephews, nieces, and extended family; and her beloved furry children, Benji, Princess Sassy, and Koree.
Mary is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Casey C. Jimenez; her parents, Rosenaldo and Lugardita Bustos; 3 brothers, Raymond, David and Andrew.
Rosary services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of the Resurrection will be Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. Both will be hold at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari, N.M., with a dinner to follow at the Elks Lodge #1172 in Tucumcari.
In lieu flowers, Mary would have insisted that donation be made to Helping Hands Hospice, 624 South 2nd Street, Tucumcari, N.M. 88401.
