Bonnie Powell Rice, 76, of Berea, died at her residence Monday, February 1, 2016 following an illness. She was a Madison County native born February 12, 1939, daughter of the late William Powell and the late Lula Burnell Powell Bullens, homemaker, member of Macedonia Baptist Church, and had been a resident of Madison County most of her life.
Bonnie loved music, sang alto in the church choir, enjoyed attending religious concerts, especially the Inspirations and the McKameys. She was an avid U.K. basketball fan and proud member of the Big Blue Nation. She also enjoyed watching Eli and Patton Manning play football.
Survivors include 3 children, Gail (James) Reams, Dayna (Troy) Burns, John Rice; 1 brother, John Powell; 2 grandchildren, Deanna Burns, Rebecca Burns; 2 step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Heather) Reams, April (Aaron) Baugh; 5 step-great grandchildren, Tyson Isaacs, Trent Isaacs, Tandon Isaacs, Grace Reams, Brooklyn Baugh; 3 sisters-in-law, Faye Powell, Sue Powell, Geneva Powell; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-neices, great-nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gilbert Rice; 6 siblings, Nancy Rice, Covell Powell, Thelma Chasteen, Lona Woodall, Lyman Powell, Howard Powell; and nephew, Ray Powell.
Funeral Service 1:00 pm, Friday, February 5, 2016 at Reppert Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be, Donnie Chasteen, Eddie Chasteen, Larry Todd, Bill Powell, Mike Rice, Steve Powell. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Lynne Meyer, Doris Robinson, Melloney Tipton, Louvonne Gambo, Teresa Blanton, Sheila Wolf, Myra Abner, Kim Chasteen, Mark Rice, Jimmy Todd, Wayne Powell, Ronald Powell, Jeff Todd. Visitation 6:00 - 9:00 pm Thursday at the funeral
