The 33rd Division, U.S. Army, known as the "Prairie Division", had roots in Chicago, Illinois, and at variouos times was part of the Illinois National Guard. In 1918, it was organized for the First World War, and included the 108th Ammunition Train. The Meuse-Argonne Offensive was the final offensive of World War I, and culminated in the armistice on Nobember 11, 1918. Oliver Ward was killed only one month before the end of the war.
