Charles “Chuck” Evans Trotter, 73, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa passed away peacefully with his wife by his side and his family in his heart on February 2, 2016 in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.
Chuck was born January 30, 1943 to Clyde and Nina (Brynildson) Trotter in Chicago, Illinois. At an early age, the Trotter family moved from Chicago to Maynard, Iowa to work the family farm.
After graduating from West Central High School in 1961, he joined the United States Navy where he served on the USS Littlerock until he was honorably discharged in August 1965.
After his time in the service, Chuck went to work with Bendix Corp. as Satellite Technician contractors to what is now known as NASA. Chuck participated in the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs living in Antigua, West Indies and Madrid, Spain. Upon returning to the states Chuck went to work on the railroad and eventually retiring from the railroad. A ten-year hiatus from the railroad found Chuck working as a Maintenance Technician at Toyota Mfg plant in Lexington, Kentucky. His love of family, and the Mississippi River running in his blood, Chuck moved to Harpers Ferry where he resided for the remaining eighteen years of his life.
Chuck loved his music and he loved it loud! He loved camping and those friends made while camping. And he loved to fish. If he wasn’t fishing he was working in his “man’s garage” on woodworking projects or “Trotterizing” something. If he was inside, he was watching CSPAN while at the same time constantly on his computer. Oh, and did we mention he loved to fish?
He is survived by Karen, his wife of twenty-eight years, four children with Lena, a previous wife of thirteen years; Charles (Odette) Trotter, Washington, D.C.; Christelle Trotter, Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Nicolle (Chad) Ellsworth, Dayton, Ohio; Sean Trotter, Georgetown, Kentucky and Bumpa’s eight wonderful and perfect grandchildren, Angela, Tess, Elizabeth, Sophie, Jake, Phil, Evan and Mattie as well as his little lap buddy, Toby Won-Kenobie
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle; two siblings, Sandy and C.D. and his parents.
Graveside services will be conducted at a later date.
