Gerald C. Porter returned quietly on January 27, 2016 to his Heavenly Father while surrounded by his family.

Gerry was born February 24, 1933 in Montpelier, Idaho to Angus Dana Porter and Anna Mildred Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Russell, LaDell, Wayne, and Leonard.

Gerry is survived by his eternal companion, Carol Dickson, and their twelve children: Joel (Deanna), Patrick (Tina), Beth Ann Caufield (Jason), Jane Brignone (James), Chris (Julie), Sanford (Jennifer), Benjamin (Amelinda), Nathan (Tanya), Thomas (Cary), Orrin (Kristie), Marc (April), and Timothy (Jessica); fifty-five grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and his sister, Loueen Nutt.

Gerry grew up in Paris, Idaho, and spent much of his youth working on ranches and farms. He served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Germany West Mission. This started his love for missionary work that lasted throughout his life.

Following his mission, he met his eternal companion, Carol Dickson. They were sealed on June 9, 1959 in the Logan Temple. Gerry's devotion to his sweetheart was his highest priority and he served as an example to all that knew him.

Throughout his life, he has faithfully served the Lord in numerous callings; his greatest love was serving as a missionary. Gerry and Carol served two full-time missions together. He considered this to be the highlight of his church service.

Gerry loved the outdoors and spent many days hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He enjoyed working in his large garden and sharing the abundance with family and neighbors.

His favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, playing games, and telling stories. He also enjoyed painting, rock polishing, and making gifts for his family.

Gerry may not have had much of the world's riches, but he considered himself the richest man in the world because of his family and faith.
