Born at Hilldale on December 9, 1925 to John & Effie Mann Tolbert. As the baby of this loving farm family, her three sisters and brother doted on her. This devotion to each other lasted a lifetime. One fond school memory for this high school beauty was her star position on the girl's basketball team. Margaret graduated from Talcott High School in 1944.
In 1946, she married her one true love, Billie E. Stennett. They had three children, Johnnie, Beckie and Harold Lee. Margaret was known by many names including Margaret, Marg, Mother, GaGa (by Eliz & Mike), Aunt Marnie, & Ma, but the name she cherished the most was Ma Ma Marnie given to her by Trey, her first great-grandson. She loved taking care of her family and enjoyed baking for them. Her homemade yeast donuts and cinnamon rolls were real crowd pleasers! She was a long time member of the Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church at Hilldale. Another joy was when she, Bill, Elizabeth and Mike took many vacations together including one adventurous cross-country camping trip in the back of Bill's pick- up truck. She was a loyal, energetic, sentimental and fun-loving person who will be missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Bill, her two sons, Johnny and Harold Lee, her son-in-law, Ernie Martin, sisters & brothers-in- law, Ethel & Lonnie Mann, Faye & Silas Stanley, Elizabeth & Michael Codish and her brothers, Harold & Roy Tolbert.
She is survived by her daughter, Beckie Stennett Martin, Palmyra, VA, grandsons, Chris Martin, his wife, Tracey, and stepson Alec, Poquoson, VA, Kevin Martin of Palmyra, granddaughters, Lisa Stennett Bower, her husband Ronnie Bower & Trey & Eli, Talcott, WV, Anita Stennett Allman and her husband, Dave Allman & Kayleigh & Theron, Shady Spring, WV. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Laska Tolbert, Roanoke, VA, Mary Ellen Stennett Harris, Camden, SC and Rosalie Stennett, Lewisburg, WV as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel in Hinton with Pastors Glen Pysell and Sterling Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery at Forest Hill.
