Russ was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He left home at an early age to join the US Marine Corps and retired after 20 years of service. He was dedicated to his God and country and served proudly in Korea and Vietnam. Russ received a purple heart for injuries sustained in Vietnam.
Russ touched many lives and made wonderful friends in his years in New Bern. His civilian work career was spent at Stanley Tools/ Robert Bosch Power Tools for 17 years and ended at Craven Regional Medical Center after another 17 years.
Russ is preceded in death by his parents John and Hattie Becker, his sister Marilyn Becker, and son Russell R. Becker Jr.
Russ is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 37 years, Susie J. Becker of the home, four daughters Trine Robertson, Halifax, NC , Geri Craig, Winsor, NC, Kathy Carmichael, New Bern, and Patsy Beavers, Vanceboro, NC, one sister Lois Wind of Cleveland, OH, and 6 grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Craven County Hospice and friends that helped along the way.
Family will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Wednesday, February 3, at Cotton Funeral Home. Burial will follow with a graveside at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, February 3, at Greenleaf Memorial Park.
