Attended Washington College, 1857-8. Farmer living in Brandy Station, Culpeper County in 1914.

Company A, 10th Virginia Cavalry, Beale's Brigade, W.H.F. Lee's Division, Cavalry, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Augusta County VA; 22 years old, farmer.
Enlisted on 6/30/1861 at Capon Bridge, VA, he was mustered into "E" Co. VA 13th Infantry as a Private.
His Company was disbanded on 11/8/1861.
On 10/1864 he was mustered into Company A, 10th Virginia Cavalry.

The 10th Cavalry Regiment, formerly called 1st Cavalry Regiment, Wise Legion, and 8th Battalion, was organized in May, 1862. Many of the men were from Richmond and Albermarle, Rockingham, and Henrico counties.
