Martha Jane Churchwell was the daughter of Ephraim L Churchwell and Comfort Harrington. Her father was a Union soldier in the Civil War and died in a POW prison and is buried at Andersonville, Georgia,

Birth date was shown as 20 November 1851 on Pension Application by her Mother for death benefits following her Father's death in the Civil War. These birth dates were very important as they determined how long a child was eligible for benefits. Death Certificate shows birth in 1857, 1860 Census shows abt 1860 and 1870 Census shows abt 1853. Martha was married to William Dewitt 5 April 1875. It is unknown what became of him. She then married James R Lomax on 22 December 1881. James died in 1892 and she married Wiley A White on 1 Jan 1893. Wiley died 23 April 1910 and she married William J Taylor on 13 November 1912.

According to the 1900 Census Martha was the mother of no children. The burial information was obtained from her Death Certificate.
