His birth was announced in the San Antonio Light and Gazette on October 26, 1909.

Daniel's ambitions were to become a physician.

Dr. Daniel Altgelt, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Altgelt left Monday for Galveston from where he will sail today for New York to serve his internship at the King's County Hospital."
He married Iva Octavia Newton, the daughter of Carl Davidson & Ethel (Alford) Newton on November 30, 1937. A description of his their wedding can be found on Iva's memorial.
From all indications it appears that their children were: Iva, Daniel Dane, Jr., Cynthia, Ernest, & Betty.
Over the years numerous newspaper articles about Daniel, Iva, & their family were printed in San Antonio newspapers.
