Carpenter, Deborah L.,

65, of New Albany, IN, passed away October 7, 2015 at the home of a friend. She was born in Louisville, KY, October 17, 1949 to A. Mae Tyra and Charles J. Heuglin. She moved to New Albany in 1963 and graduated with the class of 1967 from New Albany High School. She then graduated from the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science in 1968. She spent her earlier career as an Insurance Agent locally and in Indianapolis. At the age of 54, she decided to pursue a career in the healthcare field and became a Certified Surgical Technologist. She worked for Baptist Health Northeast and then at Associates Dermatology from 2004 until her retirement in April of 2015. She enjoyed cheering for the U of L basketball and football teams, her church community, and getting together with her BFF's from high school for lunch and laughs.

She was predeceased by her stepfather, Dr. Orville Mayfield and her feline companions Katie, Meaux Meaux, Nicki, Sugar and Henri.

Survivors include her mother, A. Mae Mayfield and her beloved and faithful cat, Molly.
