Rosemary was born to William and Katherine (Diemert) Sauer on July 25, 1929 on a farm between Sanborn and Eckelson, ND, the seventh of nine children.  She attended school through the fourth grade in Eckelson. Her family moved further south to rent a farm and she attended a country school close to home.  She attended Sanborn school for only a couple of weeks and then moved to Valley City where she lived in an apartment with her sisters Kay and Joyce and attended St. Catherine’s High School for three years.

She met Albert Meidinger and they married on February 9, 1946 at St. Catherine’s Church rectory in Valley City, ND.  They purchased a home in Valley City shortly after their marriage and resided there until 2015 when they moved to the Sheyenne Care Center.  Seven children were born from this union.

Rosemary worked many jobs during her lifetime which included soda jerk at Foss Drug, cafeteria cook at St. Catherine’s School and the public school, retail sales clerk at the Fair Store and Valley Fashions where she retired at the age of 80. She and Albert also owned and operated Village Laundry and Cleaners (next to the Elks Club) for 10 years.

Rosemary enjoyed her family and working with the public, as it gave her a chance to meet and visit with people.  She was a member of St. Catherine’s Church and the Ladies Division. She always enjoyed making the turkey dressing for the Ladies Christmas event.  Rosemary was a member of St. Catherine’s parish since she was a freshman in high school.

Survivors include her husband Albert; sons Gerald (Colette)and Troy (Jenny Elton); daughters Glenda (Pat) Hurley, Valerie Meidinger, Janel (Miles) Armstrong and Karla Rosario.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother: Jerome (Kaylee) and sisters: Kathleen Miller and Wilma Failing, sisters-in-law Gudrun Sauer and LaDonna Sauer, and a brother-in-law Calvin Iverson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Rodney, a sister Joyce Iverson, brothers Cyril, Maurice, Simon, Stanley (Infant), brothers-in-law Robert Miller and Gene Failing, and a sister-in-law Rose Sauer.
