Michael and Bridget were married 29 May 1823 in Rathedan/Ráth Éadain Townland, Agha Civil Parish, Carlow, Ireland. Their first child, Elizabeth, was also baptized there, but they moved to nearby Newtown Townland prior to the birth of their second child. Bridget died at some point between Dec 1840-1847 (between the birth of her youngest child and the emigration of her husband and children to Huntley Twp, Ontario, Canada). The obituary of her daughter Mariah [Kelly] Burns stated that she immigrated to Canada with her family, "her mother having died previously", and the obituary of her son Peter also stated that he immigrated to Canada in 1847 "when a boy with his father".

'Patrick Lawler' was the godfather of Bridget's first child, Elizabeth, and a potential brother to Bridget.
