Mary Geneva Deyton, age 94, of Green Mountain, died on Saturday, January 30th, 2016 at Brookside Rehabilitation and Care Center. Geneva was born on December 20, 1921. She is preceded in death by father, Benjamin Harrison "Harris" Tipton, mother "Trissie" Louise (Bailey) Tipton and brothers: Garrett Tipton and Leonard Tipton; sister, Leora (Tipton) Deyton and loving husband, of 59 years, Edwin Yates Deyton. She graduated from Clearmont High School and loved to garden, quilt, farm and read.
She is survived by sons: Douglas Deyton of Greensboro and Dennis Deyton and his wife, Pamela (Miller) Deyton of Lenoir City, TN; grandson, Edwin Deyton and his wife, Audrey (Donahue) Deyton of Maryville, TN; granddaughter, Christine (Deyton) Broyles and her husband, Shannon Broyles of Lenoir City, TN and a great-grandson, Everett Deyton.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2nd in the chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. prior to the services. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 3rd in the Garland Cemetery at Red Hill in Mitchell County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Yancey County Meals on Wheels at Medical Campus Drive, Burnsville, NC 28714.
