A native of Bartow County born July 21, 1925, she was the daughter of the late L. David Thompson and the late Queen Hobbs Thompson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Chapman, Sr.; her brothers, Dave, Mack and Ben Thompson; her sisters, Avis Howard, Ann House, Clara Brown, Martha Lou Jenkins, Evelyn Hight and Ruth Thompson.
Betty was a member of Raccoon Creek Baptist Church and dearly loved her church. She was known to many people as “Mrs. Betty Blue Eyes”. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who will be missed by many. She enjoyed camping, sewing and socializing.
She is survived by her children, Robert, Jr. and Evelyn Chapman, Linda and Donald Cox, Jane and Grady Hames and David and Wanna Chapman; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 in the chapel of Parnick Jennings Funeral Home and Cremation Services with the Reverend James Black and the Reverend Patrick Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 – 3:30 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.
