Pfeiffer, Frederick W.

Frederick W. Pfeiffer, age 93, of 1800B Sherman Avenue, Apt 213, Stevens Point, WI died Tuesday, Sept 18, 2012 at the Portage County Care Center.

Fred was born in Alsen, North Dakota on June 6th, 1919 and graduated from Alsen High School. He attended business college in Fargo, N.D. He learned telegraphy from his father,

who was the station agent in Alsen, and then began work for the Soo Line Railroad. When World War II broke out, he enlisted in the Naval Air Force and served for 4 years, mainly in the South Pacific Islands.

He was married to Harriet Demarais in 1948 in Red Lake Falls, MN. As a Soo Line train dispatcher, they lived in Enderlin, N.D., Gladstone, MI, and finally, moved to Stevens Point in 1961. He is survived by his wife, Harriet, sons Allen (Karla) in Austin, TX, Steven (Sherry) in Lynwood, WA, and Marty (Ginny) in Middleton, WI, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.

Fred had many hobbies. He had a 1st class amateur radio license. He was an avid reader, especially Western novels, and books about railroading, religion, and WWII. He enjoyed playing golf and he and Harriet spent their winters in TX, playing the game year round. They also enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

He thoroughly enjoyed visits with his sons, daughters-in law, and grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits.

There will be no public services as per Fred's wishes.
