Shirley was the daughter of Wesley Wade and Ella Mae Richardson. She was educated in the Schley County School System where she attended John Lewis High School in Ellaville, Georgia.
Around 1984, Shirley and her family moved to Buena Vista, Georgia where she remained until her death. After relocating she became employed with the Marion County Board of Education as a Dietician where she retired due to declining health in 1996.

She joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ellaville, Georgia as a youth, later she also attended Mt Pleasant Baptist Church in Buena Vista, Georgia with her companion. She was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Tazewell, Georgia where she sang in the Choir.

She was a loving and dedicated companion of twenty-five years to Willie Clifford Hicks. She was the beloved mother of three children. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Davis, Jr., and a brother, Andrew Baker.

Survivors:
3 Daughters: Mary F. Gladden, Jessica Frazier and Pamela Davis(Joseph).
2 Sons: William Wade(Katherine K) and Rodney C. Hicks Sr.
5 Sisters: Dianne Hart(James L.), Willie Jean Perry, Brenda Baker, Katrina Richardson Saylor(Marcus) and Vanessa Richardson.
4 Brothers: J.C. Richardson, Leroy Richardson, Eddie Richardson and Troy Richardson(Tara).
1 Aunt: Lillie Napper.
8 Grandchildren: Rockell Hicks, Ty-Neshia Davis, Rodney C. Hicks Jr, Ebony Hicks, Alayna Davis, Damian Wade, Valquan Ghant and Sincere Ghant.

Services were held Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2PM in the Sanctuary of Mt Olive Baptist Church in Tazewell, Georgia with Rev Joe Oglesby officiating.
