Deborah Ann “Debbie” Springfield Ellis, age 59, of Steens, MS, passed away January 27, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Graveside services will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Friendship Cemetery with Larry Montgomery officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Gunter & Peel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born July 31, 1956 in Chicago, IL, to the late Willis Springfield and Margaret Young Springfield of Columbus, MS. She was a graduate of Hamilton High School and Mississippi University for Women. Mrs. Ellis taught second grade at Hamilton Elementary for 13 years. She dedicated her life to caring for her grandchildren and family.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Springfield, and brother-in-law, Don Self. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Joe Ellis of Steens, MS, son, Jomie Robinson of Steens, MS, daughters, Paige Robinson Reeves of Hamilton, MS, and Shiloh Erin Ellis of Columbus, MS, brother, Mitchell Springfield of Hamilton, MS, sisters, Glenda Springfield Scott of Tupelo, MS, and Lisa Self of Hamilton, MS, and grandchildren, Ryder Reeves, Rody Reeves, Saige Reeves, and River Reeves, and special aunt, Sandra Moore of Caledonia, MS. Pallbearers will be Jake Scott, Zack Scott, Nathan Self, Hank Harrington, Daniel Springfield, Caleb Springfield, and Matthew Ellis.
