These words of scripture speak volumes about Patricia "Jean" Lewis Bynum, 73, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at her residence. Jean was well known in her community and throughout the region for her involvement with Alexis Baptist Church, her 35 year career in Tupperware and most recently with her friends at Curves. Jean loved her children and grandchildren greatly. Jean was the bride of the late Jerry Bynum for over 43 years. She is also preceded in death by one son, Rodney Bynum along with her father; James Franklin Lewis Sr. Those left to cherish Jean's memories are her mother Sarah Lineberger Lewis of Stanley; four sons and their wives and children: Mike and Debbie with Caitlyn, Caleb and Catherine of Gastonia, Doug and Carlette with Kendall of Mount Holly, Tracy and Beth with Clayton and Thomas of Huntersville, Alex and Tisha with Madison, Alexis and Kerrigan of Granite Falls; two sisters and brother in law: Anne and Larry Bishop of Clemmons and Wanda Elliott of Belmont; one brother and sister in law: James "Bud" and Carolyn Lewis of Bainbridge, Ga. Celebration of Jean's life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Alexis Baptist Church, in Alexis. The Revs. Sandy Marks and Barry Devine will preside.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Graveside and committal service will follow in the Alexis Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made in Jean's memory to Health Guidance Giving Care, 522 Moravian Lane, Suite 203, Charlotte, North Carolina 28207; Cancer Services of Gaston County, 306 South Columbia Street, Gastonia, North Carolina 28054; Hospice and Palliative Care, 900 Dontia Drive, Lincolnton, North Carolina, 28092.
