DURHAM — Sarah L. Todd passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 26th with her family at her side.

Born in Little Washington, NC, Sarah graduated from Washington High School, East Carolina Teachers College and Watts Hospital Medical Technology Program. Sarah worked full-time as head of the laboratory at Durham Medical Arts Building for twenty years. After retiring, Sarah became an active volunteer for the rest of her life, working at Duke Hospital rocking newborn babies, at Urban Ministries as a food server, and for twenty years she worked weekly at The Nearly New Shoppe.

To all who knew her, Sarah never lost her wonderful sense of humor or her zest for life. She loved her dogs, bird watching, baking, and was an avid gardener –doing most of her own yard work well into her 80s.

Sarah was married in 1953 to Thomas J. Todd at First Presbyterian Church where she remained an active member and volunteer for the rest of her life. She is predeceased by her husband who passed away in 1986.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Todd (Dawn) and Lisa Peacock (Jim); her grandchildren, Noelle Hains (Brett), Justin Todd, Jennifer Grow (Nick), Michael Peacock, and Corey Schiffhauer; her sister, Mary Elizabeth Anglin; and her lifelong friend, Eleanor Reynolds.

Visiting hours was at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, Durham, NC on Sunday, March 2nd from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Service was held at First Presbyterian Church, Durham, NC on Monday, March 3rd at 12:00 pm.
