Ron Bull was for many years a cobbler in Kempston. He ran a shop in the High Street where his wife was in charge and he would ride his moped up to his little shop in Bunyan Road. Between his legs he would carry a sack of shoes for repair that day. The little shop (and Ron) fended off developers in the 1970's and still stands, proud and defiant, amongst the newer development that surrounds it. It is now a private dwelling.
