Frank E. Pawlus, Sr., passed away Wednesday January 27, 2016 in Aurora, Ohio after 85 years of life. Frank was born on September 12, 1930 in Brunswick, Ohio, the son of the late Dominic and Mary (Wiesneski) Pawlus.

He was a resident of the Mantua area since 1972. The last couple of years were tough on Frank-numerous surgeries, trips from rehab to the hospital and back and countless medications and tests. But what about the first 83 years of Frank’s life? There were momentous occasions that deserve recognition more so than recent events.

On February 19, 1956, he married Dolores Pawlus with whom their 44 years together provided them with 5 kids, 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren-that makes for a full and eventful life. But it’s those events in between that really define a person’s life. The excitement he would get when he found a good deal at the store, watching the Cleveland Indians on TV, yelling at the TV while watching the Cleveland Indians, baking huge oatmeal cookies and working bingo at St. Ambrose Catholic Church of which he was a member. He could be gruff sometimes but that was just his tough exterior. Once you got to know him, he had a dry sense of humor and he could be the friendliest, kindest and most giving person you’ve ever met. He will be missed by everyone. In addition, Frank served his country as a U.S.Army veteran, and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.

Preceding him in death was his wife Dolores in 1999, and one grandchild. Survivors include his children Frank E. (Patty) Pawlus,Jr. of Utah, Thomas (Gigi) Pawlus and Dennis (Karrie) Pawlus both of Florida, Michael (Julie) Pawlus of Freedom and Tina (David) Phares of Willowick, Ohio; his siblings Edward (Barbara) Pawlus, Walter Pawlus of Texas, Rose (Joseph) Piazza of Cleveland, Helen(Ed) Mancuso of California and Dorothy Rice of Florida.

Cremation has been held. Memorial visitation will be Friday January 29, 2016 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, and on Saturday January 30, 2016 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of his memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Zeigler. Military honors will follow provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193.
