Robert Carrol “Bob” Gipson, who resided in Central City, passed away Thursday in Fort Smith.
He was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Central City to the late Mel Andrew Gipson and Stella Oda (Lane) Gipson.
He was 76 years old.

He was also preceded in death by one stepson, Kenneth Weaver; two sisters and three brothers.

Bob was a retired maintenance supervisor at Ben Geren Regional Park in Fort Smith. He was a Navy veteran, a member of Victory Lodge 470 in Barling, a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Lavaca First Baptist Church.

Funeral service with military honors and masonic rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brotherton Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston. Burial of cremains will be at Stroud Cemetery, near Greenwood, under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home and Flower Shop in Charleston. The body will be cremated following the funeral service. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Joe Donahue.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy (Fuller) Gipson; three daughters, Bernice Thompson and Vickie Sloan, both of Alexandria, and Pamela Clark and husband Bruce of Conway; one son, Robert Gipson Jr. and wife Kris of Lavaca; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Glenn and husband Allen of Waldron; one stepson, Randy Weaver and wife Marquitta of Conway; two sisters, Lucille Taylor and husband Junior of Clovis, Calif., and Beverly Neff and husband Denny of Lavaca; one brother, Ed Gipson of Lavaca; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Walter Lutker III, Stephen Grant Solomon, Christopher Lee Weaver, Jordan Heath Gipson, Daniel Guy Fairweather and Christopher Allen Hazel.
