Natalie E. Volk, 89, of Beaver Meadows, formerly of Patterson Township, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 28, 2016, after a long and beautiful life, surrounded by her family.

Born June 1, 1926 in Houston, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha Bees Vogan. She was a Registered Nurse and graduated from the Jameson Memorial School of Nursing in New Castle. She had been a nurse at the former Providence Hospital, and also had been a nurse for Dr. Cedric Dunn and Dr. Jafarnia. She had been a very active member of the Riverview United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, a member of the United Methodist Women, choir member, lay leader, did home visitations for the elderly and shut-ins, assisted with funeral luncheons, active in youth fellowship and the youth group, and had gone on several mission trips. She established the Robert V. Volk Scholarship Fund in 1992. She had been active in the Girl Scouts for many years, and had hiked on a portion of the Appalachian Trail with the scouts. She was a past president of the P.T.A., a volunteer for the American Red Cross, a driver for Meals on Wheels, past judge of elections. She was recognized in 2006 at the Patterson Township Community Days for her many years of dedication and her gift of time to the community. She enjoyed making Humbugs, an old family tradition of making homemade peppermint candy at Christmas, and brewing her homemade root beer. She was an avid quilter and an excellent seamstress making many of her children’s clothes. She loved gardening and canning. Most of all she was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert V. Volk on January 14, 1992, a son-in-law, Melvin Rowlands, a daughter-in-law, Lynn Volk, a sister, Mary Lou Gutermuth, and two brothers, Frank and Calvin Vogan.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Lynne and Terry Teets, Parsonsfield, Maine, Becky Rowlands-Donges and Robert Donges, Raccoon Township, Robert L. “Buzz” and Kim Volk, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Amy and Eric Leitem, New Brighton, Lisa and Robert “Butch” Lokar, Enon Valley, 12 grandchildren, Kyle, Stephen, Matthew, Natalie, Bethany, Stephanie, Tera, Elizabeth, Mallorie, Emily, Claire, Carl, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Vogan, New Brighton, and two sisters, Martha Jean Bryan, Lake City, PA, and Audrey Macklin, Newport, VA.

Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hill & Kunselman Funeral Home, www.hillandkunselman.com., 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. There will be an additional visitation on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the Riverview United Methodist Church, 1099 Darlington Road, Patterson Township, with Rev. Bay Allen officiating. Private interment in Sylvania Hills Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made, if desired, to the Robert V. Volk Scholarship Fund, in care of the Riverview United Methodist Church, 1099 Darlington Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.

The family would like to thank the caretakers at Beaver Meadows and also Gateway Hospice for their loving care and support. She will be sadly missed and greatly praised by all who knew her.
