On the evening of Tuesday, December 31, 1895, he married Lottie Lillian Allan at the home of the bride's parents, General and Mrs. Edgar Allan at 1501 Eleventh Street Northwest in the District of Columbia.
They had no children.
On Tuesday, October 18, 1898 at noon, he married Elizabeth Yates Barber, youngest daughter of Mrs. Eliza C. Barber of Charles County, Maryland at Stratford, the home of Dr. and Mrs. Richard S. Hill at Marlboro, Maryland.
They were the parents of two children.
Bernard L. Grove was Vice President and Director of the Capitol Savings Bank for many years. He was also the local representative and Director of the M.J. Grove Lime Co. of Frederick County, Maryland. Previously he was the owner of Grove Lime and Coal Co., a coal and lime business. He was a member of the Washington Board of Trade; the Chamber of Commerce; Keane Council No. 353, Knights of Columbus and the Washington Lodge No. 15, B.P.O. Elks. He was a life member of the District Coal Exchange. He died at age 60 years at 9AM on Monday, January 3, 1927 at his residence, 1527 Farragut Street Northwest after a short illness. Survivors included his widow, Elizabeth B. Grove; one son, Bernard L. Grove Jr. and one daughter, Elizabeth Barber Grove. Funeral services were held first at the home and then at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
