Joan Allison Young Daily
1958 ~ 2016
Our beautiful wife, daughter, mother and grandmother, Joan Allison Young Daily, "Joanie" age 57, passed away January 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family due to complications from breast cancer. Joanie lived life to the fullest and fought this disease with courage. She loved to run and hike in the mountains surrounding her home. She enjoyed tennis, mountain biking and climbing. She was born on December 14, 1958 to Boyd W. Young and Janet Reynolds. She is preceded in death by sisters Heidi and Lynne. She is survived by her loving parents; Boyd Young and Janet Reynolds Welsh, her sisters: Shelly Brewer, Erin (Mark) Alexander, Jen (Peter) Hathaway, Mikelle, Taylor (Jeremy) Hadfield and Emily (Ferin) Freimann and step-mother Linda Young. She married the love of her life, Joseph E. Daily, on August 24, 1979 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of four sons, Nate (Mary), Alex, Mike (Elle), and Taylor (Kate) Daily. Her greatest treasures were her children and grandchildren, Maggie, Kate, and Joe.
She will forever be indebted to her "Prayer Circle Friends" who surrounded her with hope and faith during these very difficult times.
Joanie was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved studying the gospel and found much comfort and joy therein. She loved researching genealogy and doing temple work for her ancestors.
Joanie loved to serve others and was the Service Learning, Community of Caring, Teacher at Skyline High School for 16 years. She loved working with youth and felt like she learned so much from their example. She also loved working with the Young Women in the church.
Her family would like to thank the kind medical care given to her by doctors William Nibley, Grant Hunter, Peter Maughan, and Peter Hathaway and by Hospice, especially her nurse Kristen Hatch, who gave such loving care.
In lieu of flowers, please make a goal to serve others because we can all make a difference for others, as Joanie so beautifully exemplified throughout her life.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Fortuna Chapel, 4407 South Fortuna Way in Salt Lake City. The family will be greeting family and friends from 9:30 to 10:30 before the service and from 6-8 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Fortuna Chapel. Graveside and internment to follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
