Maria was born in Earl Township, the daughter of Jacob Huber (about 1699-1759) and his first wife, possibly Anna. Jacob's second wife was Anna Leininger (1695-1738 Lancaster County PA). She was married to Jacob Eberly. Jacob was the son of Michael Heinrich Eberly (Sept 13 1682-1760) and Veronica Ulrich (1685-1765). At age 34 Veronica immigrated to Pennsylvania with six young children arriving on September 16 1727. She settled at Durlach, Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Her husband Michael Heinrich Eberly and his father Michael Eberly, Sr. presumably joined with Alexander Mack and his New Baptist movement (or Dunkards) in Germany. Veronica left her husband behind and joined a Mennonite community in Pennsylvania. According to some he missed the ship for an unknown reason. Michael Eberly, Sr. was a tailor and cap-maker. He held political office, was a leader of the pietistic movement and was in dis-favor with the ruling church. He was driven out of Switzerland with his family in 1705 and went to Schwarzenau, Germany where he was re-baptized by Alexander Mack. He died in 1725, four years before Mack led a group of followers to America. His son, Veronica's husband, Michael Heinrich Eberly died in Europe. Maria and Jacob were the parents of the following known children:

1-Henry Huber Eberly (1747/48)

2-Jacob H. Eberly (March 21 1750/51 Durlach, Clay Township, Lanc Co PA-Feb 1 1807 Clay Township) married Anna Shirk (Aug 25 1758 Durlach, Lanc Co PA-Aug 9 1826 Durlach PA) on October 17 1775 in Clay Township

Her father's Genealogy:

[This information is also on a memorial for her father Jacob Huber (provided here in case that memorial is ever improperly deleted). My memorial to her father was created appropriately after doing a search for J. Hubers in Lancaster County. The other existing memorial doesn't show up at all in the state of Pennsylvania because it was wrongly placed as 'non-cemetery burial' location instead of the correct cemetery. I also requested that this Bio be merged and it never was. So I am keep my memorial for Jacob.]

Jacob Huber (born about 1698/99 in Germany or Switzerland)~

Jacob was the son of Hans Huber* and Barbel 'Barbara' Lier* (abt 1662 Uerzlikon, Kappel, Zürich, Switzerland- after 1700 Switzerland). Barbara's parents were Jagli Lier/ Luyer and Elsbeth Strebel. Jacob immigrated with his father to Lancaster County and took over the family homestead by 1745. He was married first to Anna (?). His second wife was Anna Leininger (1695-1738 Lancaster County PA). Anna was baptized in the Catholic Church on January 16 1695 at Kirchheimbolanden, Pfalz, Bayern, Switzerland. According to several online family trees, Anna Leininger was the daughter of Jacob Philippi or Phillipp Jacob Leininger (Feb 1 1627 Lichtenberg, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France-Nov 1 1710 Mietesheim) and Anna Catherina (1648 Mietesheim, Bas-Rhin, Alsace, France-October 26, 1713 Mietesheim. Note that this would mean her father was about 68 years of age and her mother about 47 when she was born. It is more likely that Anna was the daughter of one of Jacob's older sons- Hans Phillipp Leininger (1677-April 24, 1741 Mietesheim) or Hans George Leininger (1678-July 14, 1733).

Jacob and Anna moved to Martic Township, where he took up a tract of several hundred acres of vacant land. He later built a grist mill which his son and grandson operated. In was subsequently known as Strohm' s Mill (rebuilt by David Strohm in 1784).

The known children of Jacob and his first wife were (Maria's siblings):

1-John Huber (abt 1723, New Holland, Earl Twp) married Margaret
2-Martin Huber (1725 Earl Twp)
3-Anna Huber Gingrich (abt 1720) married Jost Gingrich
4-Maria Huber Eberly (1724 Earl Twp) married Jacob Eberly
5-Barbara Huber Stetzler (1722) married Philip Stetzler
6-Margaret Huber Winter (1733) married John Winter

The known children of Jacob and his second wife Anna Leininger were (Maria's half-siblings):

7-Catherine Huber (abt 1734)
8-Christian Huber (abt 1740 PA)
9-Mary Magdalene Huber (abt 1742 Earl Twp)
10-Jacob Huber Born (abt 1746 Lanc Co PA)
11-Mathias Huber (1748 Earl Twp)

Jacob died in Martic, Providence Township, Lancaster County. Burial location on the family homestead in Martic was described by Harry M. Hoover, The Huber-Hoover Family History (1928), page 45.

*Some family trees have Margaret Koch (1672-1845) as his mother. Margaret would have to be his father's second wife.
