He served in the United States Marines in the military police in World War II and The Korean War. He attained the rank of Corporal.
He graduated from Morse High Scool in Brooks, ME, Class of 1943. Ashley was an avid fisherman, he loved to golf and garden. He was a member of the Torrington Country Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters Elaine (Ellie) Roberts of West Glover, VT, and Sharon Ashley Roberts of New Britain; a brother, Edgar Roberts and his wife, Leona of Southington; five loving grandchildren, Judy Abare and her husband, Rick of Bristol, Johanna Matches of Thomaston, Kelly Todd and her husband, Ben of Glover, VT, Meghan Lavallee of West Glover, VT, and Grayson Roberts of New Britain; and a great grandson, Dustin of Bristol; beloved sisters-in-law, Elaine Thomas and her husband, James of Torrington and Virginia Prasso of Torrington; and beloved niece, Jean Clapps and husband, Tommy of Burrville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond and a sister, Ruth Burns.
The funeral will be held Monday, 8:15am, from the Driscoll Mortuary, 138 Migeon Ave., to St. Francis Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial will be in St. Francis New Cemetery.
