Eli married Catherine Cata Peters on January 5, 1802. He was the son of the Reverand Levi Ashbrook and Mary W. Chenoweth. He was the father of Tunis Peters, Johathan P., Francina A., Absalom P. Mary Cata, Permelia, Delilah, Juliann, Hiram, Eli, William and Rebecca. Eli became a Baptist Minister like his father. Eli was one of 12 children born to his parents. There were 4 marriages between these children and the children of Tunis Peters and Francinah Addams, and all occured in Hampshire County. All of these families including Catherine's parents moved to Fairfield County, Ohio. It should also be noted that at the time of Eli's birth, Hampshire County was still considered Virginia, and broke off into West Virginia at a later date.
