He received medals of National Defense and Sharpshooter M-14. After the service he joined the Police Academy and later became a DNR officer. He got his CDL and became a truck driver for many years, retiring from Murray's Trucking, Davenport. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, camping, birdwatching, and anything to do with nature. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robert and sister Sue.
A special thank you is extended to his hospice nurse Liz.

A Fisherman's Prayer
God, grant that I may live to fish until my dying day.
And when my final case is made, I then most humbly pray.
When in the Lord's safe landing net,
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy, I be judged as good enough to keep.
