GRANGER - Hilda E. Taylor, 101, of Granger, passed away in the Hearth of Juday Creek on Sunday, January 24th. Hilda was born in Ligonier, Indiana on March 24, 1914 to the late William I. and Dora (Brown) Buckles. On September 15, 1956 she married John F. Taylor, he preceded her in death on February 21, 2008. She retired from O'Brien Paint in South Bend in 1956, where she was a secretary. “Auntie” knitted or crocheted many caps and sweaters for the new babies in the family. She will be remembered as enjoying family gatherings and her hearty laughter. She also enjoyed many Notre Dame football games with her husband John.

Hilda is survived by her nieces: Colleen Davis Lerner, Joellen Davis (Wayne) Fleming, and Debra Buckles; and nephews: Jack (Phyllis) Davis, Dennis Buckles, and Andrej Pavuls; a sister-in-law, Donna Buckles, along with many great and great-great grandnieces and nephews. Hilda was preceded in death by her sister, Mable Davis, her brothers, Clyde and Coe Buckles, her half sisters, Demaris Jenkins, Mary Ely, and Bertha Emshwiler, a half brother, Wayne Buckles, two nieces, Marilyn Davis Pavuls and Yvonne Jenkins Frances, nephews, Robert Lerner Sr., and John Hall Sr.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 29th from 10:00am until Noon in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A service celebrating Hilda's life will be held in the funeral chapel at Noon. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
