Frederick John Moore, Sr., of Eureka died in a local hospital on Saturday afternoon following a lengthy illness. He was born at Jolly Giant millsite near Arcata on October 25, 1886. He was a retired insurance agent for New York Mutual Life Insurance Company, a member of the California State Assembly in 1922 and secretary to the Humboldt Grand Jury in 1925. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eureka.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Bertha F. Moore of Eureka; sons, Fred J. Moore, Jr., and Francis L. Moore of Eureka, and Dr. Herbert L. Moore of Arcata; a sister, Mrs. Lila M. Bruner of Ferndale; a brother, Verne E. Moore of Eureka; nieces, Mrs. Fred Hen of Ukiah, Mrs. Wiley Cousins of Sunnyvale and Mrs. Mercedes M. DeLuca of Santa Rosa; nephews, Stanley M. McLeod of San Francisco, Charles V Moore of Eureka, and Floyd G. Worthington, D.D.S., of Ferndale; and 11 grandchildren. Another son, the late Dr. James N. Moore, died in 1952.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the Pierce Mortuary. The Rev. Devore Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Joseph R. Cook, James Cook, Francis Cook, William H. Roberts, Charles Pedazzini and E. E. Kellenberger.

Honorary pallbearers will be A. W. Way, Fred G. Anderson, Erest Johnson, Henry Rousseau, Richard Nilsen, Ernest Pierson, Jay Willard and E. E. Mori.
