Mr. W. Bridges Simmons, 83, of Albany died Monday Jan 25, 2016 at his residence.

His funeral service will be held Saturday 3:00PM at the Walden Chapel of First United Methodist Church with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Dr. Don Adams will be officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:30 to 2:45PM at the Ford Hall in the Church.

Born in Rebecca, GA, Mr. Simmons graduated from Albany High School in 1950. He retired from the Dougherty County School system after 30 years where he served as Assistant Principal at Radium Springs Middle School. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Dougherty Lodge #591 where he received his 50 year pin. Mr. Simmons was also a member of the Albany Exchange Club for 51 years and a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Edward Simmons and Emma Bridges Simmons; his brother Herbert Simmons and a nephew Bobby Simmons.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Janice Simmons of Albany; two sons Mark Simmons and his wife Carmela of Cypress, TX; Dr. Kent Simmons and his wife Susan of Albany; a daughter Jan Dahler and her husband Gary of Dallas, GA; his sister Wisteria Simmons Houston and her husband Warner of Savannah, GA; a brother in law Bob Chastain and eight grandchildren.
