Ruby Y. James, 78, of Lebanon, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 27, 2016, at her home near Lebanon.

She was born Nov. 7, 1937, near Drynob, Mo. to Harold and Agnes Doublin Armstrong.

On June 11, 1955, she married Billy James.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy, on June 30, 2012; a son, Steven James; a brother, William Armstrong and a sister, Jeanette Armstrong.

She lived her early years in the Drynob area. After she and Billy were married they made their home in Kansas City, where Ruby worked for a time at Jackson County Hospital. For most of her life she lived in the Lebanon area and was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. She also did babysitting for a time.

Ruby had professed her faith in Christ and was an active member of Sunnyview Freewill Baptist Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship of the members. She lived her faith and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Neil and her husband, Dale, of Belton; Sarah Lane and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon; a son, Shawn James and his wife, Amanda, of Lebanon; a daughter-in-law, Karen James, of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Jason, Justin and Jared Lane, Zachary James, Melissa Gregory, Renee Wallace, and Wesley James; eight great-grandchildren, Vincent Payne, Tristen Wallace, Nicole Stacey, Josiah James, Daniel Couch, Breanna Couch, Jacob Gregory and Emily Gregory; two brothers, Harold Armstrong Jr. and his wife, Jeanette, and Edwin Armstrong and his wife, Alvina, all of Lebanon; six sisters, Judy Moyers and her husband, Jerry, of Richland; Mary Leer and her husband, Arnie, Patsy Starnes and her husband, Jimmy, Pam Stewart and her husband, Jim, Karen Letterman and her husband, Jim, and Dana Perkins and her husband, Robert, all of Lebanon; also a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial for Ruby Y. James will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, in Sunnyview Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Rev. David Douglas officiating, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Friends may call at their convenience in the funeral home.
