David Severo Castro, 61, “Puruco” passed away peacefully January 24, 2016. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico April 2, 1954, son of Iris R. Castro and the late David S. Castro, Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Robin Templeton Castro; daughter: Denise S.C. Boltinhouse (Jarred); son: David Severo Castro (Deanna Thomas); two grandchildren: Ethan Severo and Zaida Anne Boltinhouse, all of Cayce; his mother: Iris R. Castro; three sisters: Ivonne Collazo, Yolanda “Tita” Castro and Zaida Castro, all of Puerto Rico.

He retired from the U. S. Navy after 20 years of service and from SCDOT last year. He enjoyed driving a van for Helping Hands. He was the leader of his son’s Boy Scout Troop for 6 years. He loved to golf and loved being surrounded by his family. He was a loved man by anyone who knew him, an amazing husband, father, grandfather and uncle.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, PO Box 144, Columbia, SC 29202. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2 PM on Friday, January 29, 2015 at Cayce First Baptist Church. Thompson Funeral Home assisted the family, www.thompsonsfuneral.com.
