The Enterprise, April 4, 1957:
George Beverly Gunter, Sr., 64, died Wednesday night, March 27, at the home of a sister, Mrs. R.E. Cruise of Route 2, Stuart. A carpenter, he was born in Patrick County on July 24, 1892, the son of the late George B. and Luck Foley Gunter. Surviving are two sons, George B. Gunter, Jr. of Riverside, California and Garland O. Gunter of York, Pa. and four sisters, Mrs. Cruise, Mrs. Murray Williams, Mrs. Cora Joyce and Mrs. Alec Thomas all of near Stuart. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from community Church near Stuart in charge of Elder Joel E. Marshall, Elder Carsell? and Elder A.J. Hylton. Burial was in the Gunter family cemetery near Vesta.
