Extracted from obituary in the Wayne County Press, 8/11/1927:

Emily R., the daughter of William and Amanda Baity [Baty] was born September 13, 1847 at Effingham and died August 3, 1927 in Enfield. She married Monterville Ray about 1866. They had two children: Mrs. James {Mary Amanda} Yeager of Cisne and Leonard Ray of White County who died about 7 years ago. Her husband died about 1872.

After his death she married Jonathan Pittman about 1874 and they had five children. Jennie G., Ona, Cloyd, Iva and Ida. Jonathan died about 1889.

She third married G. B. Clutter in 1904.

In addition to her own children, she helped to raise two step-children: Mrs. G. O. Pittman of Flora and Guy Clutter of Pueblo, Colorado. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Royal Hall of Rinard. Burial in Cisne Cemetery.

Note: it is possible that there was another marriage to an unknown “Bowles” based on the 1900 census in which she is listed as a widow by the name of Bowles, living with two of her sons and a daughter. In 1910 and 1920 she is living with Granville Beecher “Beachor” Clutter.
