June V. Black, 72, formerly of North Blvd., Mt. Jackson, passed away the morning of January 7, 2013 at Ellwood City Hospital. Born June 19, 1940, in New Castle, she was a daughter of John J. Russu and Olive M. Pyle Russu Joseph.
She was preceded in death on December 1, 2002 by her husband, Melvin E. Black whom she married January 7, 1956.
She attended New Castle High School and was previously employed by K&D Mini Mart in Bessemer and Shop-N-Save as a deli clerk. June enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and sewing.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Albert) Mijavec of New Castle and Jean M. (John) Zona of Wampum, PA; a daughter-in-law, Marsha Black of New Castle; three sons, John Daniel Black and Melvin Black, Jr. both of New Castle, and Gerald L. Black of Pulaski; a brother Frank Joseph of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Joseph.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.
