Laura was the daughter of Jack C. and Gretchen Neal Jones. She was a resident of Balch Springs, Dallas County, Texas. The following is from the Laurel Oaks Memorial Park website:

Laura married Richard Sewell on May 11, 1962. They were a very loving and spiritual couple for 43 years. Laura was a secretary for 40 years. She taught Sunday school for many years at Mesquite Church of Christ. The highlight of her teaching was attending a mission trip to Oregon with the youth group. Laura was an encouragement to many by giving them flowers, sending cards for birthdays, anniversaries and to people she knew who needed a spiritual word of encouragement. She studied her bible daily. Laura was well versed in her scriptures. Watching the Texas Rangers was a must. If she missed even one game she would be upset. Her love for baseball began at an early age. It has been said that she could throw a ball harder and faster than any of the boys. Laura was a very avid daily player of Jeopardy. How she always knew some of the answers is beyond us. She loved listening and singing to all acapella music especially "His Harmony". Laura always had an infectious smile that could light up a room and a unique laughter to fill the room. Laura will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marlin "Bo" Jones and her loving husband, Richard Sewell "the gum man". Laura is survived by her daughter, Becky Sewell Hanna and husband, Skip; son, Richie Sewell and wife, Linda. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Jennifer Sewell Chappel and JJ Hanna.
