Neil E. DeWitt, age 74, of Canal Winchester, died Sunday, August 27, 2006 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Born August 7, 1932 in Columbus to the late Amos and Wilda (Feiock) DeWitt, he was raised in Lewisville, Ohio. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was retired from the payroll dept. of the Ohio Dept. of Administrative Services. He was a member of the Demorest Moose Lodge #11, Northern Stars Camping Club, enjoyed bowling and golf, and was a big fan of OSU football and NASCAR racing. Survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; daughter, Donna (Nelson) Redd, Pickerington; grandchildren, Allison Bates and Mitchell Redd; sister, Janet (Danny) Stoffel, Lewisville, OH; brother-in-law, Tom Chakas, California; sister-in-law, Carol (Bob) Gerkin, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews. Friends may visit 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 550 Hill Road N. (St. Rt. #256), Pickerington, where funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday. Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Friends who wish may contribute to the Kidney Foundation or Central Ohio Diabetes Association in Neil's memory.
