Raymond Hanson passed away January 23, 2016, at the age of 88. He was born to Henry and Fena Hanson on October 16, 1927, in Mobridge, SD, the youngest of four children. In 1942, he went to Kirkland, WA and worked as a pipe fitter building ships. He returned home and worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for a short time until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945, and was honorably discharged in 1947. He came back to Mobridge and married Violet Stoecker on June 27, 1948. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD. He and his family moved to CA in 1957, where he taught Industrial Arts, Math, and Reading in the Lodi School District for 29 years. He retired in 1987. During the summers he worked for Nor Cal Beverage Company. In 1966 he and Violet bought a 9-acre farm and grew grapes and walnuts. During their 54 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home, their Cessna 150, and many ship cruises with friends. His passions were fishing and tinkering around on the farm. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet, in 2002. He is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Adams (David), who lives in Boise, ID; Trudy Riedinger (Bob),of Lodi; and Jan Ehlers (Jim), also of Lodi. He has seven grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Throughout the years he was a member of the Assorted Nuts Trailer Club, the Lodi Trailer Club, the Lodi Sportsman Club, the American Legion, and the Moose Club. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. of Lockeford. Visitation will begin Wednesday, January 27th from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 28th from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. Services will be held on Friday, January 29th, 10:00 a.m. at Evergreen Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to the charity of your choice. Committal will follow at the cemetery.
